Painting a Crib

Aloha!  It's been a month since my last post.  Pregnancy gives me up & down moods on pretty much everything.  All I want to do lately isNAP.  Today I wanna share my crib project.

To better keep an eye on our new baby, I decided to make room for her in our bedroom.  Besides, I want my 8 year old daughter to enjoy her room a little longer to herself.  Our room is so small that I was just going to get a bassinet next to our bed.  Then I learned that there is such thing as mini-crib.  Mini crib width measures about 41 inches vs 55 inches for the standard crib.  I measured our bedroom, and mini-crib fits perfectly next to our bed!

Homemade Longganisa (Filipino Breakfast Sausage)

My mom bought and cooked longganisa for breakfast one weekend, and it was such a torture for me to watch her and Kaylee devour it with garlic fried rice. Since I'm pregnant, I have to stay away from it because of preservatives esp. sodium nitrate/nitrite. If you've been pregnant or been around pregnant women, you would know that once we want something esp. food, WE WANT IT!  I figured the only way to have it is to make it myself without preservatives.  It was so easy that I wished I thought of it before.

Longganisa (pronounced as long-ga-nee-sa) is a Filipino style sausage.  Its taste/style varies from region to region.

I personally prefer the sweet Pampanga style longganisa.  This particular recipe is the sweet version.

How to make your own Monogrammed Plaque

Hello hello!  Today I want to share the project I did a year ago, so this post is long overdue... This is on "How to make your own Monogrammed Plaque."

I've always wanted to put something personalized in front of our house.  At first, I thought about putting our last name on our mailbox, but I thought maybe that's too much information.  I got so excited with the thought of monogrammed plaque maybe over our front door.  I found a lot of nice monogrammed overdoor plaque online, but I had one problem with them.  The prices range from $120-$190 plus shipping and handling to Hawaii.  Yikes!

I had to think of a way to get it cheaper. While I was at Ross, I had this brilliant idea. (light bulb!!!) I bought this decorative cast iron wall thingy in rusty black, then went to Ben Franklin's to buy a wooden letter G.

I got this at Ross for $11.99, super cheap! Keep in mind it's a hit or miss at Ross.

My letter G was about $4. I already had the craft paint & brushes conveniently on hand :)

It's graduation season, and my husband is finally getting his Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration from University of Hawaii.  While he's excited about graduation, I have my own reason to be giddy - DIY graduation favors!

As usual, I want the party favors personalized without spending a fortune. One reason to DIY!

While my favors seem like a lot of work, I actually had fun making them. Don't be intimidated with my million steps on how to. I just want to be elaborate as much as possible...

DIY Easter Goodies

Hello guys!  Today I would like to share three cheap & cute goodie bag ideas for kids.  I was thinking of what I could send to my daughter's class for Easter.  Chocolate bars are discouraged by her school which makes it tougher to make something for kids plus I didn't want to spend that much.  I found a lot of cool ideas on Pinterest, and I am sharing three of my favorites - Bunny Food, Bunny Poop & Bunny Tails.

These are super easy and fast to do.  My favorite part is that they're very  cheap.  I'm also sharing free templates should you want to make them for the kiddos this Easter Sunday.

Aloha!  I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend like we did.  As usual, my daughter and I were busy gallivanting while hubby was in school.  This Saturday, we went to the west side of the island.  We checked out Nimitz Beach and had lunch at MonkeyPod in Koolina.  We also got to gather some twigs and sand for my next project.  It was a beautiful day!

Anyway, I wonder if you remember few months ago, my best friend got married (story here) and Kaylee was one of her flower girls.  I made hair wreaths for the flower girls.  After the wedding, I hate to think about my beautiful hair wreaths just meeting the trash.  Also, I wanted to make something for the girls to remember this very special day.

Aloha!  I'm back!  So sorry for being quiet for the past few months...  Life took its toll on me.  From emergency trips, work to just being stagnant period.  I haven't signed in on my blog for so long that I forgot the password.  That's pretty bad...  But I'm back and rejuvenated!
PictureAwesome 80 degree weather at Lana'i Lookout - can't complain!

Entertaining our nephew and his girlfriend from New York this week gave me a jump start.  Taking them around the island (Oahu) reminded me of how much Hawaii and LIFE has to offer.  It inspired me all over again.  While a lot of people are enduring the freezing winter, we are here in Hawaii enjoying the sun and rainbows.  That is definitely something to cheer about and be thankful for.
