Hello guys! Our laundry room is finally 90% complete, so I figured I can share it now. I have been dreaming of front loaders since before we even moved into our house. I've been waiting 'til our plan to renovate, that hasn't come to place. So once again, I had to take matters into my own hands.
Our first major transformation!

Yes, my birthday week, not just a one day birthday:) My husband and Kaylee got it started on Sunday. They were so excited that they gave me my birthday present early. I wanted to wait til Thursday to open it, but they kept insisting, so I did. It was exactly what I wanted! A Macbook Pro! I can work on my blogs more now that I don't have to wait for everyone to be done with their homework. On my actual birthday, what I really wanted to do was to work on my current project which is our spare bedroom/junk room/study room. That's what I did. As soon as I got home from work, I started painting. I've gotten plenty phone calls from friends and family to see what I was doing for my birthday. I got one reply, "I'm painting."
My bestfriend got engaged Fall last year, and we have been preparing for her wedding since then...
Wedding Date: August 8th Wedding Place: Hilo, Big Island/Hawai'i Everything was all set and ready, then the news came reporting there were two hurricanes bound for Hawai'i. First was Hurricane Iselle, which was scheduled to hit Hilo the hardest on Thursday, August 7th. Iselle invited Hurricane Julio to come right after. While we're bracing for Iselle, we also had an earthquake and hydrogen sulfide release at the geothermal plant in the island. Not to mention, flights were being cancelled to and from the island. Our guests cancellations kept growing. My co-workers and friends thought we're crazy for heading to Hilo for the wedding. I guess it really was crazy, but the funny thing was not going didn't even crossed my mind.
Since my daughter isn't exactly a little girl anymore, I was having a hard time looking for a flower girl hair wreath that fits her. The ones stores carry are mostly for toddlers and only comes in white or ivory. I'm looking for blush color. That's when I decided to just make it.
I made a trip to Flora Dec to buy blush ribbon for our tea party favors and saw these flowers on sale. I wasn't sure the color was going to match Kaylee's dress but oh well, I'll take the risk for $6. First I just attached the 6 strands together, but it seemed so bulky and heavy. So I detached the flowers and leaves from the bunch and twisted them in a single strand. It worked!
My bestfriend's wedding is fast approaching. We decided to do an afternoon tea party with some fancy hats to offset that wild, crazy time in Las Vegas for her bachelorette party. I made the invitations (through Microsoft Publisher). I just put Victorian borders around and print them on a nice 89lb shimmery ivory paper. I ordered heart shaped tea infusers from Beaucomp.com for our party favors. The infusers came fast and very cute!
We had the tea party at Orchids in Halekulani Hotel. The oceanfront view was beautiful, and the tea service was great! Just perfect! Oh did I mentioned it was a hat party? Well, it was! I always wanted to wear a nice fancy hat, but never had a reason to without looking like I just lost it.
Between all the projects I have been tackling, all the gallivanting we've been doing on weekends, and the chauffeuring I do for my daughter's extra-curricular activities/classes, I get scattered brain. Yes, I know, not good... My attention span is just as short as a 5 yr old's. I knew I need to de-clutter my mind, and list my goals for my ongoing projects. Within five minutes, I put this punch list together >>>>>>>>
Holy crap! I was in awe on how much I have pending... This doesn't even include the little crafts I want to do. Not only that, I have been buying items, just to let it sit, and some are piled in my car. I seriously need to step back, focus and prioritize. This list makes it obvious that I have too many unfinished business. I had to regroup my thoughts, and tackle one thing at a time. For this exercise, I made my own manifesto for my DIY's to keep me from being all over the place. Now the challenge is sticking to it.
I have all these scrap fabric that my mom hoards. She doesn't really like it when I use the word "hoard" on her. Haha! It's true, she doesn't like throwing away fabrics. She always tells me she might be able to use them to make quilts, which she never has time between work and chores. I mean I have to literally nag her everyday when I need her to make something for me and take her to a Filipino restaurant as a bribe. Hehehhe... Anyway, back to scrap fabric, I have to find a way to make use of it without sewing. So I thought fabric flowers!
