 | Two weeks passed and my palm trees haven't grown... I decided to find a project to keep my mind from our plants and palm trees in our driveway. I got this small beat up desk or side table from Craigslist. I thought maybe it was a bad call to get it, but I already took it home, so I needed to do something with it. My husband tightened up the wobbly legs before I sanded it. The previous owner of this table put Chinese paper on the top and coated it some massive lacquer (I think), so it took me a while to sand the top. I lost track of time that I skipped my Saturday morning Zumba, but guess what?! Sanding this table was a major arm work-out!  I took a break after priming the desk to take my little dragon to watch her favorite movie (How to Train a Dragon) sequel. She wanted me or daddy to wear a Viking hat to the theatre....Haha! |
I used my leftover paint & primer - Kilz oil-based primer and Behr ultra pure white paint & primer in one. I applied the primer and then left it alone. The following day, I sanded it again before painting over, then I did the same thing the day after. I spray painted the drawer pull hardware with metallic black.
Since I wanted a little bit of flare, I painted the inside of the drawer white, then chevron pattern turquoise. I knew I couldn't possibly paint chevron this perfect, so I used a frog tape - chevron pattern. As soon as I was done painting, I peeled the paint tape while the paint was still wet. Then I waited another day before sealing it with clear gloss Minwax.
